Locks of Love Donation November 2013

JUST realized how long it has been since I have updated my blog! EEEEk!!!! I am so much better at hair than blogging :-) hehehe. I have personally been lusting over short hair again lately, so this lil brave lady snuck into my mind... As you can see, she donated over a foot of hair to Locks of Love! Done with your long hair? Call me! Fall is such a fun time for change and hair donation is such an easy way of making someone else happy. That ponytail is doing nothing for you anyway, right?

HOMECOMING!!!! OCTOBER 2013

I felt SO old when this little cutie walked in the salon for her Homecoming updo. I just wanted her to take me with her!! And give me her amazing hair! Waterfall braids were so popular last year and she has the perfect hair for it... I hope she had a memorable evening with her best friends!!

Easy Beach Waves

It is SO HOT!!!

Here's an easy styling tip for soft waves without much heat! 

1) start by misting dry, second day hair with Oribe Foundation Mist or Bumble and Bumble Tonic- both products add moisture to the hair and re-activate any product in the hair. Mist until slightly damp, then apply Curl Shaping Mousse from Oribe throughout the length of the air. 

2) Twist the hair into ropes and heat with a diffuser before wrapping into buns. Spray the buns with hairspray before pinning them to cool. Keep in mind that smaller buns make tighter waves.  (Time saving tip- put on your makeup and eat a little breakfast while the buns cool)

3) Go back over the buns with a cool diffuser before unwrapping the buns.

4) To finish, use a small amount of Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine for piece-y separation and a mist of hairspray.

Victor Paul Salon Photoshoot~ Shiva~ September 2013

In September of 2013, we did a really fun photoshoot at Victor Paul Salon. The theme was short, red hair. Luckily, I had recently met this little beauty, Shiva who was very open to a fun change with her hair.  I love these shoots because we get the chance to be creative. Hair, makeup and wardrobe by me :)

Here we are goofing around after the shoot. I love the bags under my eyes hehehe.

Nikki's Bridal Shower Makeup ~ September 2013

My gorgeous friend Nikki looking all glowy and pretty for her casual Bridal Shower :) No filter because she is obviously gorgeous.... Her eyes just POP with those lashes! For this look, I used individual lashes with short in the center and fanning out to longer at the edge of the eye. She had a fantastic day and I felt so lucky to be the one making her feel pretty.

Ophelia~ Mother of the Bride~July 2013

Ophelia came in wanting a naturally pretty look to enhance her beautiful eyes for her son's wedding. She's a very natural beauty and we did not want to hide her behind a shield of makeup and hair. She loved her look and felt confidant at her son's big day. That warms my heart.  :)

Badgley Mischka/ Enzoani Bridal Show June 2013

 Thanks to my friend and co-worker, Selina Lopez I was able to take part in a fantastic Bridal Couture show put on by some VERY talented designers. Badgley Mischka were hailed by Vogue as one of the "Top 10 American Designers" and were such a pleasure to work with! Enzoani frequents covers of Bridal Magazines and an Enzoani dress was chosen as Kristin Stewart's wedding dress in Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. So needless to say, I felt so lucky to be there! We were directed to refrain from taking any pictures of the work, but here's a few we snuck in  ;)

Everyday Pretty Hair ~Candice~ May 2013

I wanted to post an example of beautiful everyday hair. My client Candice has some of the strongest, healthiest hair I have ever seen. She has gone from black to platinum to red to brown and looks great with it all!! This is one of my favorite looks on her. She wanted a warm brown with cool highlights and I think we achieved it nicely. To keep your hair healthy like Candice's after color changes, make sure to deep condition with a mask once a week!

Stunning Crimson Red April 2013 Virginia

How gorgeous is this stunning red on Virginia?! We took her from black to crimson this day. I just LOVE this color on her and her shiny, pretty hair wears it so well!! No filter of course! 

When going red, please keep in mind sulfates strip your hair color, so I always recommend a sulfate- free gentle shampoo, such as Bumble and Bumble's Color Minded line. Long Live Color!

This was by far the most fun I've ever had at a photoshoot. We got to hang with cute boys all day. Who could argue with that?! This shoot was published in a bunch of hair magazines, which was exciting since men's looks are rarely featured.  Men's hair defines their style and it's so important to get it right.

How amazing is this hair piece?!! Jasmine has the prettiest hair on the planet, so she was so easy to transform into a beautiful bride. She is one of the few blessed with shiny, flowing hair with that perfect wave to it. She is very gentle on her hair as well, so she has maintained that healthy hair that so many of us abuse. 

Jasmine and her awesome man, Eric married at a small ceremony at the Old Santa Ana Courthouse and she wanted an easy style to reflect the casual vibe of the wedding. She had this AMAZING hair piece custom made on Etsy and we made the piece the focal point of her look for the day. I love Jasmine and Eric as a couple and was so excited to be a part of their happy day.

There are few things more exciting than a brave beautiful girl motivated to donate her long healthy hair to Locks of Love. My client, Sotheary chose this adorable cut and I think it is so cute and flattering on her~she works short hair so well! 

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Chicago Wedding Sept 2012

This was the only bride I have ever styled while breast-feeding :) This weddding was special to me because the bride has been one of my best friends since middle school. I was a bridesmaid in the wedding as well as glamming her up for the day. The ceremony took place at a really unique venue in Chicago and was one of the most stunning weddings I have ever been involved in.
